Payroll and Benefits Executive

The Premier League has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Executive to join our growing People Team. In this role, you will manage the payroll and benefits processes for our expanding UK workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.

This position will suit someone who is highly organised, methodical, and confident in managing payroll operations and employee benefits administration. You will play a key role in ensuring our people are supported through efficient, accurate and high-quality payroll and benefits delivery.

We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.

Our hybrid-working model also allows you some variety on your place of work, offering you the chance to work from home on some days each week, where possible. You will be expected to attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for supporting the effective delivery of all core payroll and benefits operations for Premier League staff. This includes, but is not limited to:

Payroll Management

  • Process monthly payroll end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate payroll data in HRIS (SAP) and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Oversee annual P11D and P60 processing in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Submit accurate payroll and benefits data to HMRC and other statutory bodies.
  • Support annual salary review and bonus processes, ensuring accurate and confidential implementation.

Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage payroll for employee onboarding and offboarding, including starters and leavers.

Benefits & Pensions

  • Administer pension schemes, including auto-enrolment, monthly submissions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administer employee benefits impacting payroll, ensuring correct deductions and entitlements.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Coordinate annual Gender Pay Gap reporting and other statutory reports with People Operations.
  • Produce monthly and ad-hoc payroll and benefits reports for the People team.
  • Keep payroll procedures, policies, and benefits information accurate and up to date.

Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as first point of contact for payroll and benefits queries, providing clear and timely responses.

Projects & Ad Hoc

  • Assist with ad hoc tasks and projects related to payroll, benefits, compliance, and systems.

Benefits

Proven experience in managing end-to-end monthly payroll processes within a UK organisation.

Demonstrated experience in benefits administration, including pensions, auto enrolments, healthcare and insurances.
Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.

Experience producing management reports and statutory reporting (e.g., Gender Pay Gap).

Knowledge of HMRC regulations, including P11D, P60, and statutory reporting requirements.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. 

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
