Volunteer – Kids Hull Early Years Groups
Location: Hull – various family hub locations available
About the Role
Kids is seeking a dedicated Volunteer to support disabled children, young people, and their families within our Early Years SEND Groups. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills in a rewarding environment while making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Kids Early Years Group Practitioners in the provision of appropriate, stimulating and enjoyable group learning experiences for children with additional needs and disabilities and their parents/carers, fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with practitioners, senior workers, and coordinators to maintain best practices and address any issues as they arise.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in your care.
- Recognise and support the social, emotional, and communication needs of each child, encouraging their participation in group activities.
- Contribute to the preparation and set up each session.
- Contribute to the clearing away and storing resources appropriately, ready to be used again.
- Observe children’s development, sharing with the KIDS Early Years Group Practitioners.
- Support whole families (including grandparents and siblings) and offer information/advice as needed, and as appropriate.
- Give information to families regarding further learning opportunities.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with children, young people, and their families
- Participate in Kids’ induction and ongoing training programs to enhance professional development
- Comply with all Kids policies and procedures, including safeguarding, data protection, and equality of opportunity.

Desirable Experience and Qualities
- Lived experience of parenting a young child with SEND
- Understanding of the individual needs of different children and their parents who attend the Kids Early Years Groups.
- Have understanding and experience of the various aspects of the lives of young children and their parents who attend the KIDS Early Years Groups. Including, but not limited to; education, behaviour, sleep, sensory needs, communication styles and play and leisure activities
- Personal skills to relate to, and be able share relevant, timely and appropriate information and advice with other parents with young children with SEND.
