Job Title Swim Teacher Support (Learn to Swim) Responsible to Commercial Manager Role Overview Support the swim teacher during lessons by assisting children in the water. Provide encouragement and reassurance, particularly for beginners who may feel nervous or lack confidence. Help ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in the pool. Assist children with basic skills such as floating, kicking, and building water confidence, under the direction of the swim teacher. ● Work as part of a team to support the swim teacher in delivering the Learn to Swim programme. ● Assist in creating a learning environment that is fun, safe, and supportive, helping children to feel confident and comfortable in the water. ● Follow the direction of the swim teacher to encourage and guide children with basic skills such as floating, kicking, and water confidence. ● Offer encouragement and reassurance to pupils, helping to build positive relationships. ● Support with safety in the pool by staying attentive, engaged, and aware of all children in the group. ● Provide feedback to the swim teacher about children’s progress or any concerns observed during lessons. ● Help maintain good discipline and behaviour in the pool area, ensuring lessons run smoothly. ● Set a positive example by being enthusiastic, approachable, and reliable. ● Abide by all health and safety procedures and follow safeguarding requirements at all times. ● Be willing to attend training or updates as required to ensure best practice. This role is designed to support the swim teacher, rather than lead lessons. Responsibilities may vary slightly depending on the group, level of ability, or specific needs of the children.
