We are looking for apassionate and experienced fundraiser to join our Individual Giving team. Our supporters are the reason we can work to create a world where every whale anddolphin is safe and free. Working within the Development & Outreach department, theIndividual Giving team uses a wide variety of activities to recruit new supporters andensure that our current supporters know just how important they are.   Leaving a gift in their Will is likely the biggest and most important gift someone willgive. From creating supporter journeys which lead to new legacy pledges to lookingafter legacy pledgers, and educating the organisation on the importance of legacies, youwill be responsible for leading on our Legacy programme.   You’ll also use data-driven insight, segmentation, and testing to maximise income fromappeals, regular gifts and one-off cash donations. You will help to maintain and reviewour retention and stewardship strategy and ensure that our donors’ needs are fulfilled tocreate best possible supporter experience. Date produced: August 2025Lead the development and delivery of the legacy fundraising strategy, creating andimplementing targeted acquisition plans to grow legacy income in line with agreedtargets Design and execute integrated legacy marketing campaigns, collaborating across theorganisation to optimise messaging and reach across all channels Cultivate and steward a portfolio of legacy supporters, including new prospects andexisting donors, delivering best-practice supporter journeys and planning engaginglegacy-focused events. Identify those most receptive to legacy messaging and explore creative outreachstrategies including awareness campaigns and partnerships Oversee legacy programme administration, ensuring timely and accurate processing ofbequests, maintaining high-quality reporting, and supporting continuous improvementthrough robust evaluation Work collaboratively with colleagues in the finance team on legacy programmeadministration, while supporting continuous improvement through robust evaluation Legacy fundraising:Create and coordinate effective fundraising campaigns, including our weekly lottery,cash appeals, payroll giving and in memory giving, with the support of the individualgiving manager Deliver a rolling calendar of multi-channel appeals and campaigns, including seasonal,thematic, and emergency response fundraising Continually review programme performance through data analysis against KPIs andapply learnings to improve the supporter experience and ongoing fundraising strategies Assist the individual giving manager to manage and reforecast relevant budget areas Manage fundraising streams: Improve the supporter experience:Work with others in the fundraising and engagement teams to support and maintain anexcellent supporter experience, ensuring supporters are thanked, stewarded andacknowledged appropriately throughout all online and offline channels Write engaging supporter content that tells powerful stories and brings them closer tothe whales and dolphins they protect and the impact their support is having Your Duties and Responsibilities:Be passionate about fundraising and fulfilling the donors needs Organise and prioritise a busy workload Self-motivate and demonstrate initiative  Distill scientific material into donor-focused content Analyse data from a variety of sources  Build and maintain strong relationships Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills Have a passion for the natural world Skills, knowledge and experience:You will:Legacy fundraising Campaign management, audience segmentation, donor journeys and multi-channelmarketing Track record of income growth and innovation across digital and offline channels Writing and managing donor communications including direct mail and emailmarketing. Using systems to manage and analyse data Following budgets, including income and expenditure Excellent interpersonal and project management skills, including working with crossfunctional teams Making changes based on market trendYou will have experience in:Manage external relationships: Maintain our reputation as the authority on whales and dolphins with our supporters Work with external agencies to deliver WDC’s fundraising programmes, followingsector best practice  Liaise with executors, solicitors and charities in the administration of legacy giftswhere necessary Follow trends and guidance in the sector to continually develop the cash donor journey Identify opportunities for personal development for ongoing growth Ensure that gaming activities meet Gambling Commission requirements Develop new ideas, following best practice: Collaborate within the organisation:Work with colleagues to develop cross-promotional opportunities Work with colleagues to ensure GDPR compliance and communications and dataquality to provide the best possible supporter experience across all channels Work with colleagues to ensure supporters are at the heart of everything we do WORKING FOR WDCSalary: Between £29,000 and £30,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills. All employees are paid monthly in arrears on the last working day of the month.Hours of work: This role is for 35 hours a week. The standard working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday.Place of work: Hybrid between our office in Chippenham and home working. Ideally, you’d be able to work in theoffice two days a week but there is a level of flexibility. We will consider homeworking for anexceptional candidate. You may be required to travel occasionally within the UK.Holidays: Holiday entitlement is 28 days (with 3 days used for Christmas closure). We also offer an extraday of leave for your birthdayPension: All eligible employees will be automatically enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, managedby Royal London. WDC will contribute matched funding of up to 5%.
