Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver outstanding Mathematics and Computing lessons for Years 7-8, aligned with the English National Curriculum and school standards.
  • Identify and nurture talent in students for whom Mathematics, Coding and related fields (such as electronics, animation) are natural strengths.
  • Innovation in Learning: Integrate cutting-edge technologies, robotics platforms, and engineering design challenges to inspire creativity and critical thinking
  • Differentiated Instruction: Develop adaptive teaching strategies that meet diverse learning needs while maintaining high expectations for all students
  • Assessment & Progress: Implement comprehensive assessment strategies, provide meaningful feedback, and maintain detailed progress records
  • Subject Leadership:
  • Interdisciplinary Connections: Foster connections between mathematics, computing, and engineering through collaborative projects and real-world problem-solving
  • Technology Integration: Leverage digital tools and educational technology to enhance computational thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of our expanding secondary curriculum
  • Departmental Partnership: Collaborate effectively with STEM department and cross-curricular teams
  • Continuous Development: Engage actively in professional development, departmental meetings, and appraisal processes
  • School Community: Contribute to extracurricular activities, school initiatives, and STEM-focused clubs and competitions
  • Positive Learning Environment: Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom culture
  • Student Communication: Build strong relationships with students and maintain regular communication with parents regarding progress and achievements
  • Extended Learning: Lead robotics, coding, and engineering clubs to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom

Professional Expectations:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computing, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics and Computing to lower secondary or Year 7 and 8 students.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and international school environment preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Computing.
  • Skilled in differentiated instruction and classroom management.
  • Proficient in using educational technology tools and software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about inspiring young learners.
  • Knowledge of innovation, and robotics is preferred.
  • Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) knowledge would be advantageous.

Child Safeguarding:

  • Attend regular in-house child protection and safeguarding programmes and sign a Code of Conduct;
  • Play a leading role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students in the school;
  • Report to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student;
  • Report to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead any unsafe practices witnessed within the school as outlined in The School’s Speak Out Policy;
  • Keep professional relationships with students where personal boundaries are respected and maintained.

Requirements:

  • International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) prior to the start of the contract
  • Formal proof of identity with photo ID (Original Driving License/ Passport)
  • 3 signed, confidential references (one of which will be from the candidate’s current headteacher) before the start of the contract;
  • Verification of original qualifications.
