What will a day in the life of a Senior Product Development Officer involve?

  • Lead and/or support on the creation of new products from insight through to ideation, prototype, business case and if successful, pilot – applying user-centred design principles throughout.
  • Lead and/or support cross-functional teams to deliver innovation products, being accountable for deliverables, seeking team alignment and ensuring that an audience led approach is taken.
  • Plan, design, prepare and run workshops to support the design, development and continuous improvement of income generating products.
  • Design and run interviews and discovery research to develop a deep understanding of the need and wants of audiences for current or new products.
  • Analyse existing products within the Supporter Engagement portfolio and testing different assumptions on how to scale and develop the product further.
  • Promote innovative ways of working, supporting other teams to embrace a test and learn approach to working.

To be a successful Senior Product Development Officer, what will you need?

  • Demonstrable knowledge, experience and passion for audience-led design practices.
  • Proven record of innovation, marketing, new product / service development, or customer experience – whether in commercial, public or third sector environments. Charity or fundraising experience is not required.
  • A growth mindset in which you are curious, tolerant of ambiguity, persistent and bring a ‘we can if’ approach to solving complex problems.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, communication, presentation skills.
  • Diplomacy; successfully negotiating large, complex organisations.
  • Demonstrable experience of iterative project management in various environments, ideally having played a role in designing/embedding new ways of working.
  • Experience of copy writing, developing or cocreating digital, print, video or visual content for products.
  • Strong IT and office skills.
