Job overview

Are you an IV-trained nurse looking for a change of scene and a new challenge? Do you want variety in your job, and would like a break from working weekends and nights?

Our friendly and dynamic team identifies and treats anaemic patients who are having planned major surgery. Our aim is to get these patients into the best possible condition in time for their operation. Due to increased elective surgical activity we are looking for an IV-trained nurse to join our team for a fixed term 5 month contract.

If you are kind and caring, sociable, hard-working, flexible, and able to work under pressure , you will love this job. An energetic nurse with vision and enthusiasm would make a massive impact on the quality of our service. Our clinic is nationally recognised as excellent, so if you would like to join us on our journey, please get in touch.

Main duties of the job

This post is based in Pathology, with intravenous iron day case clinics currently in the Brownsword Therapies Centre.

To join the Surgical Anaemia Service based in the Pathology department, and managed by the Transfusion Team.

To provide care and treatment of anaemic patients within the elective surgical pathway to prepare them for their procedure.

To provide nursing care during the day case administration of intravenous iron and occasionally blood components (this will include cannulation and phlebotomy) in the Surgical Anaemia clinic under the supervision of the senior nurse. Good communication skills and effective multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working is essential to manage the varied patient group who attend the clinic.

You would be expected to work weekdays and core hours; start and finish times may vary depending on the needs of the clinics. Weekend and out of hours working is not required for this role.
