Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a young man in my 20’s, living in the Rhiwbina area of Cardiff. I have autism, attention deficit and learning disabilities. I am looking to employ a personal care assistant(s) to support me accessing activities in my local community.
The PA will provide support to enable me to engage in varied activities such as cycling at pedal power, attending the gym and generally supporting me in any chosen activity which may also include activities going to the cinema or 10 pin bowling. However, exercising is my focus. I also need support to follow a basic learning plan helping me with reading & writing skills.

HOURS OF WORK
5 hours - Friday (10-3) flexible
RATE OF PAY
£14.70 per hour.
TASKS INVOLVED
- To support, motivate and encourage engaging in activities that I enjoy.
- To encourage opportunities for social interaction.
- To promote independence.
- To ensure the young person is always safe whilst out and about.
- To undertake activities of my choosing such as the gym/exercising, swimming, accompany cycling (not on roads), golf, ten pin bowling cinema, meals etc.
- To go on dog walks encouraging road safety awareness.
- To support with basic reading, writing, numeracy in a calm, relaxed environment.

- Someone who is be honest and trustworthy and adheres to confidentiality
- Someone who is focused and engaging as well as motivational when spending time with me.
- Advantageous to have experience of working with young people with autism and learning disabilities.
- Essential Car owner driver with class one business use.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
