The Dash Charity is looking for a Refuge IDVA to join its dedicated refuge services team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a local domestic abuse charity with a huge influence and reach. For almost 50 years The Dash Charity has been supporting individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse, empowering women, men and children to recognise the tactics of abuse, break the cycle, and take back control of their lives.

We were one of the first charities in the UK to be awarded Leading Lights status for our Advocacy and Outreach Services by SafeLives, and pioneered Healthy relationships workshops in schools over a decade ago.

We run three refuges that offer a sanctuary to women and children escaping violence and abuse, offering specialist children’s support and one to one support for women.

Job Purpose:

The Refuge IDVA will be expected to effectively support a case load of clients, working creatively to provide direct one to one support around emotional well-being, housing needs, benefit needs, as well as a strong focus on safety planning. You will additionally provide support through criminal remedies where appropriate. You will work with a strong multi agency focus liaising with other agencies and professionals both internally and externally to ensure client’s needs are met. Both SAFELIVES and Women’s Aid National Quality Standards underpin the support we provide and should be applied to any intervention undertaken. You will also be expected to work closely with our Children’s IDVA for family intervention as required.

Essential:

– Safelives/ Women’s Aid IDVA qualified or willingness to undertake training.

– Ability to organise workshops and groups for Clients in addition to one-to-one work.

– Excellent communication and report writing skills.

– Previous experience of working with vulnerable adults or within a social care/residential setting.

– Knowledge of best practice on the effects of domestic abuse.

– Understanding of the principles of risk assessment and safety planning.

– Full Driving Licence and be able to drive the charity vehicle.

– Enhanced DBS check
