An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Metal Fabrication Apprentice to join the Glacier Energy team in Washington. This hands-on role involves the fabrication, assembly, and repair of heat transfer equipment, working with a range of metals including aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel.

Role Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Metal Fabrication Apprentice to join the Glacier Energy team in Washington. This hands-on role involves the fabrication, assembly, and repair of heat transfer equipment, working with a range of metals including aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel.

Training and Development

Your apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with TDR Training in Longbenton.

  • The programme will start with 10 weeks of practical training at TDR Training’s specialist workshops.
  • You will then continue your learning and development on-site at Glacier Energy while completing your BTEC Level 3 qualification.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive ongoing support and mentoring from experienced engineers and supervisors.

Accountability

  • Welding and fabrication using various materials and techniques
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Operating fabrication equipment and hand tools
  • Assisting with the repair and maintenance of heat exchangers and related components
  • Working safely in an engineering workshop environment
  • Passionate about a career in engineering and fabrication
  • Keen to learn practical skills and work with their hands
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to developing their skills
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English

Full time position upon completion of the apprenticeship
