Facilities Assistant
Hours: Part time (20 hours over 4 days), 8am to 1pm, Monday-Thursday
Contract Type: 12 months fixed term contract, subject to funding
Location: Based in our London office, in Stockwell.
The role:
As our Facilities Assistant, you will provide day-to-day in person support at our London Office.
You will ensure an efficient, effective and customer-focused facilities management and Health and Safety service. In addition to our London office, you will remotely support other Friends of the Earth offices as required, and act in absence of the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager in times of emergency.
We are tenants in all our offices and use a range of contracted third party suppliers, so a key part of the role is liaison with management companies and good supplier management to ensure we get the right job done and deliver good value for our supporters who fund our work.
This role is very customer-service focused, working on projects of all sizes, as well as being part of our Service Desk team. This is a rewarding and varied role, being flexible will be key, as no two days are the same.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Good understanding of facilities management
- Good organisational skills including ability to coordinate and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Health and Safety of workplace and manual handling experience
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement risk controls
- Proficient in MS Office applications e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Have a proactive approach to dealing with issues and willing to learn new systems and processes
- Ability to work on your own initiative with limited supervision
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines and conflicting priorities
- Understanding of the environmental issues that affect and inform facilities management.
Special working conditions
- This role is required to work fixed hours in the London Office, due to the specific job requirements
- Travelling to other offices in the UK region is occasionally required
- Occasional travel outside of working hours will be expected
About the team
Working closely with the Health, Safety and Facilities Manager, you will be part of our vital Infrastructure Services team, sitting within the Finance and Operations Directorate.
The Infrastructure Services team is responsible for the physical and virtual platform we use to do our work, from physical premises to our network, servers and Service Desk for support issues.
