St Anne’s Community Services is a charity that was formed in January 1971 providing shelter to the homeless. It has now developed into the entity it is providing a variety of diverse services with the clients at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a Nurse to join the team at our service in Dewsbury, supporting up to 20 clients with Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviours and Mental Health.

Our clients at this service enjoy watching movies, listening to music and pamper sessions!

Full flexibility for this role is essential, and being available to work on a rota including weekends is a must.

Main duties of the job

We are now looking for an innovate hands on nurse (RGN RMN or RNLD) with an active pin to join our team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Supporting the manager in ensuring that all staff employed within your service are recruited, developed, supported and managed in an appropriate and professional manner.

2. Responsible, with your manager, for addressing the training and development needs of staff and ensuring that they are reviewed against St. Anne’s service objectives.

3. Responsible, with your manager, for addressing your own personal development and training needs through PREP and a professional portfolio, based on service objectives.

4. Responsible for supporting the manager in maintaining the quality of the service provided within your defined area.

5. Responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that you and staff within your service comply with St. Anne’s values and beliefs, policies and procedures. In addition that any legal or contractual obligations are fully met.

6. Responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that your service(s) have access to, and uses, the best current thinking and practice in the delivery of those services.

7. Responsibility for contributing to the successful future development of St. Anne’s by highlighting opportunities within the broad corporate aims of the organisation. This will include contributions to policy and procedures and to service development.

8. To monitor clinical practice and standards of care, and the implementation of policies/practice guidelines and legislation appropriate to the service and to take corrective measures when required to do so.

9. To work in conjunction with the Project Manager and other staff, to take responsibility for the risk assessment, prioritisation and planning of admissions, to and discharges from, the service.

10. Responsibility for supporting the manager in establishing and maintaining effective links within your team(s), with other organisations and agencies, or workers whose role(s) may impact upon your service area.

11. Responsibility for deputising for the manager in their absence.

12. Responsibility for any specific roles and duties within the home as agreed with the manager.

13. Responsibility for communicating effectively within your workplace, within your team, and within the organisation.

14. Responsible for ensuring that as an individual, and as part of a team, that resources are used appropriately and that all necessary steps are taken to avoid fuel energy wastes.

15. Responsible for maximising the opportunities for client participation.

16. Assessing student nurses where appropriate and supporting support assistants with learning and development needs as required by the service.

17. To work independently in assessing and planning to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of clients presenting in crisis, and during programmes of detoxification and rehabilitation.

18. To plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, in consultation with clients, to meet assessed and agreed needs, utilising a primary nursing system and ensuring full liaison with other disciplines directly involved with care provision.

19. To ensure the approach to care provision is given with full understanding and compliance and legislation appropriate to the service.

20. To work with clients in preparation for discharge ensuring full exploration of options for ongoing support and treatment, and to liaise as appropriate with other agencies and service providers.

21. To initiate and maintain continuous therapeutic relationships with clients by utilising relevant nursing practices and constantly monitoring such interventions.

22. Be able to work flexibly to meet the changing needs of the service, including out-of-hours/unsocial shift patterns.

  • Previous experience working in care (employment or carer at home)
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in an LD Environment

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
