Newcastle University is looking to appoint a Co-Chair for its Social Justice Advisory Group from the North East’s Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector.

Social and Environmental Justice are core values of Newcastle University. The Social Justice Advisory Group, established in 2018, brings together practitioners from the voluntary and community sector with researchers and educators at the University. It advises on thematic and collaborative work connected to social justice, emphasising co-production and real world impacts. For example, the group oversees a network of academic and VCSE partners, delivers regular Social Justice Forums, manages a Social Justice Fund, holds workshops and undertakes projects on specific themes. Further information can be found on the University’s social justice webpages. Current membership of the group can be found here Social Justice Advisory Group | Who We Are | Newcastle University.

The Co-Chair will work alongside the University Co-Chair Professor Rachel Pain, for a three year term beginning January 2026, and receive an annual payment of £1,200.

The University can offer a statement of support for those interested in the role who may need to seek approval from their organisation to apply. If there is any other way we can help with seeking approval please email socialjustice@newcastle.ac.uk.
