London Cycling Campaign Cycle Buddies Volunteer About LCC and Cycle Buddies London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is a charity with more than 20,000 supporters, of whom more than 12,000 are fully paid-up members. We speak up on behalf of everyone who cycles or wants to cycle in Greater London; and we speak up for a greener, healthier, happier and better-connected capital. Cycle Buddies is a free-of-charge, online service that connects new cyclists with people who already cycle to get started, meet up and build confidence. When a participant joins Cycle Buddies they can see all the people offering cycling help in their area. There are buddies all over London, from different backgrounds, and willing to help people in many different ways. Common things Buddies help with include: • Returning to cycling after a short break • Returning to cycling after a long break • Finding quiet roads and cycle paths in your area • Building confidence cycling on roads • Planning and trying routes to work, schools, parks or shops • Cycling at night • Checking their bike is safe before a ride About the Role The London Cycling Campaign is looking for a volunteer to help manage some of the processes that support the Cycle Buddies platform. These include responding to emails, responding to requests for Cycle Buddies literature, admin relating to the database backend, and occasionally attending road- show type events. The task will mostly be desk based, though there may be some public facing elements and dealing with LCC local group volunteers. You’ll ideally have the following in this role: • Good technical literacy • Good attention to detail • The ability to travel within London by cycle and/or public transportation (transport costs can be reimbursed when agreed with LCC ahead of time) • Sympathy with the aims of LCC and Cycle Buddies However, we encourage you to apply if you don’t have all the skills above or would like to further develop them. We can offer training and support and see volunteering as an opportunity for you to learn new skills. Time commitment - approx. 3-5 hrs/week average based on guess of workflow. Though you'll have flexibility how to split this up. This is an office-based role in Farringdon though there will be some flexibility to do some tasks remotely. Travel expenses and a lunch allowance are available. The preferred volunteering hours would be Wednesday afternoon but there is some flexibility around this for the right candidate. To apply Please download and complete the application form and email it to campaign@lcc.org.uk. If you have any questions about the application, please email us.
