Head of Design & Technology

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging full time teacher to teach DT
across Key Stage 2 and Years 7&8.  The role will be offered on a part time basis
where flexibility is offered to candidates who wish to maintain a work/life balance.
The Head of DT will aim to establish the highest standards of learning, progress
and attainment in Design & Technology for all pupils.

This role is assigned to the Teaching Staff: Teaching Pay Group and the salary will be in the range of £45,000 - £50,000 per
annum pro rata dependent upon qualifications and experience. In addition the position offers:

The Department

Design Technology is currently taught
through projects and challenges
developing key skills. The curriculum
areas studied include Resistant
Materials, Workshop Skills, CAD/CAM,
Mechanisms, Circuits, Engineering,
Control Systems, Structures, Graphics
and Textiles.

Boys explore DT in a stimulating learning
environment where they learn about and
solve real life problems, creating designs in
a CADCAM classroom alongside a traditional
workshop, enriching their learning and enabling
them to experience a much wider range of
tools, equipment, materials and techniques.
Boys are introduced to Smart materials
responding to their environment opening up
a new way of working and practical problem
solving. CAD CAM is very much the way forward
for innovative DT teaching providing high
quality outcomes for every boy.

Facilities

Staff

Centred around a Grade II Listed Farmhouse, the school comprises a mix of
traditional and modern buildings, with the latest, the RIBA award-winning
Jubilee Building housing the Pre-Prep and Junior School, having been
completed in September 2015.  Two classes of twenty boys in each of Years 1
& 2 enjoy their own floor of the Jubilee Building, with a large break-out area,
and outside learning areas.  The boys also benefit from the use of the School’s
other buildings and outside areas which house the Dining Room, Sports
facilities including swimming pool, gymnasium and astro turf, and the Library.

Davenies has over 80 employees consisting of full and part time qualified
teachers and teaching support staff (including technicians), and supported by
a team of office staff, a site team led by the Facilities Manager, and a dedicated
School Nurse.  Catering, cleaning and IT support are outsourced, with external
contract staff working alongside the School to provide term-time services.
In addition, the School hosts a range of visiting music, LAMDA and extra-
curricular activity tutors.
