Providing strategic leadership for SEND across the school to ensure that
provision is structured and mapped optimally, so that the school remains
structurally equipped for SEND students to make excellent progress.
This is a full-time appointment. Cundall Manor School has a non-selective
intake with pupils from a full range of abilities.  Our nurturing environment
usually ensures excellent value-added performance at GCSE placed within a
curriculum which is determinedly holistic.
The aims of the school include maximising the achievements of each pupil
and developing their personal qualities. This role is key to helping achieve
these aims in collaboration with parents, pupils, external professionals and
members of the leadership team. Positive, effective relationships are
integral to the successful working of the school and the safety and
wellbeing of the pupils.

•  Manage the strategic development of Learning Enhancement across

the School.

•  Oversee Learning Enhancement in all forms, from SEN (Special

Educational Needs) to HPL, and ensure that the school structure
and provision model remain optimal.

•  Report to SLT as required on staffing, provision mapping, statutory

obligations, and structural review updates.

•

•  Have a strong understanding of the strategic aims of Cundall Manor
School, and use these to map provision of Learning Enhancement.
Liaise closely with each phase of the school to ensure that SEN
provision model, and the profile of students is mapped effectively
across the organisation, especially robust processes between Key
Stages.

Liaise closely with external feeder schools at key transition points
into school.
Lead on the development and implementation of inclusive practice
throughout the school.

•  Advise on and deliver whole staff training on inclusive practice and

•  Oversee and maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map
to ensure that provision always meets the needs of students and
statutory provision. Ensure this is shared with teaching staff.

•  Ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities

regarding all students with SEND.

•  Ensure that pupils with learning support needs are appropriately
supported, considering their areas of strength and difficulty.

•  Work with SLT to ensure pupils needs are being supported through

learning walks and book looks.

•  Ensure that subject teachers are kept informed about the individual
needs of those with academic and pastoral support needs and how
they can best be supported.
Identify those pupils who may need additional short or long-term
support, write and implement support programmes for them,

classroom-based staff, form tutors, parents, and outside
professionals to ensure that pupils are properly supported across
the school.

•  Research and keep abreast of new initiatives and research in SEND.
•  Specific knowledge of the JCQ regulations in ensuring that those

who qualify for access arrangements (AAs) in examinations are
provided for.

•  Coordinate assessments with outside professionals such as
educational psychologists or medical practitioners where
appropriate.

•  Organise the assessment of pupils who may require AAs and ensure

all paperwork up to date.

•  Work closely with the Exams Officer to ensure that the necessary
arrangements are made to support pupils in both internal and
external examinations.

•  Coordinate the EHCP process with relevant teaching staff and

ensure all statutory deadlines are met.

•  Maintain effective and proactive communication with parents and

guardians.

•  Work with each department to ensure their provision of additional

learning support is fitting and effective.

•  Work with the pastoral team and health and wellbeing team to

ensure SEMH and physical needs of pupils are met.

•  Fulfil the leadership role of Head of Department.
•  Attend HODs and pastoral meetings and other whole school

committees as required.

•  Manage the Learning Support team and their continuing

professional development.

•  Chair weekly department meetings.
•  Oversee staff deployment within the department.
•  Manage apprentice LSAs within the department and support their

training needs.

•  Outstanding administrative and organisational skills.
•  Accredited SENCO qualification.
•  Knowledge of the SEN Code of Conduct and its practical application
strategies for meeting the needs of SEN of pupils in a mixed ability
classroom.

•  Experience of working in Middle Leadership (desirable).
