Position Title:

IT Support Officer

Status:

Part-time, 25 hours per week

Reports to:

Finance Manager

Salary:

£29,000 - £32,500 FTE dependant on level of experience

Purpose and vision for role

This position plays a vital part in the day to day running of Gaia House. We are looking for someone
with a high level of technical expertise to work as part of the Gaia House team with responsibility of
looking after the organisation’s existing IT infrastructure, implementing any changes and support our
digital communications.

The role is based at Gaia House in Devon and provides IT Support in the house and to those who
work remotely (no travel offsite is necessary) with additional support available from our external IT
Consultants (who have developed the IT systems currently in use at Gaia House). The IT team
consists of the IT Support Officer, the external IT Consultants and the Finance Manager.

There is some flexibility around when hours are worked, though core hours which fit with the staff
you will be supporting is essential along with requirement for occasional on-call back up to trouble-
shoot when necessary.

Key information about our current IT infrastructure will be provided when invited to interview.

Key tasks and responsibilities

IT infrastructure
•  Maintain, upgrade and develop our IT systems, hardware and software, in collaboration with the

IT team:
•  Support and develop the in-house network, and problem solve issues as required
•
•  Advise on purchase and set up of new equipment
•  Train and support staff in IT systems where appropriate, producing “how to” instruction

Implement cyber security systems and maintain these

sheets as necessary

•  Train and support staff in good and safe working practices within the organisation
•  Trouble-shoot system or equipment failure and develop protocols for staff to follow
•  Maintain, support and problem solve our broadband and telephone system and develop

these appropriately

•  Extend the documentation of our IT infrastructure, including updates
•  Maintain peripherals and consumables

Database development and administration
•  Assist with development work on the database
•  Assist with the update and integration of the database and website with our annual programme

information

•  Design and produce queries on the database
•  Advise on future evolutions of our Information Systems.
Website
•

In liaison with the Communications Manager and Development Manager, keep the website up to
date, create new webpages etc as needed

•  Assist the Communications and Development Managers with online publicity, fundraising and

outreach activities as required

Project work
•  To assist and advise with any new projects that require a technical input

General duties
•  To work as a member of the staff team and report to the Finance Manager
•  To exercise commitment to diversity
•  To carry out other duties at a similar level of responsibility and pay from time to time

There will be ongoing reviews and evaluations and the post holder should be aware that the job
description may be reviewed or updated as a result.  This will be done within the Supervision and
Appraisal structure in place at Gaia House.

Experience in and development of networks

Extensive knowledge of Office 365 suite of software, including Access
Proven experience and success working within Windows environments
