JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a woman in my 30s with a learning difficulty. I live with my mother but have a strong relationship with my sister who also supports me. I do talk a lot, and sometimes swear. I have strong opinions but please don’t take offence to any of this. I like music, swimming, bowling and going to the cinema. going to college where I need to learn literacy skills. I live in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I need help with motivation to develop independent living skills, enrol in a college course, support with dealing with correspondence and applications.

PLACE OF WORK

The place of work will begin at my home but in time may be based in the community or at college. Flexibility is essential.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 3 hours a week available initially, but this may be increased depending on outcomes. Times of work can be negotiated depending on your availability and my needs.

RATE OF PAY
 
£13.90 per hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

In addition to those detailed above, you will need to keep me safe and ensure I build safe and healthy friendships with others. IT and literacy skills are essential in helping me achieve my outcomes.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

•    Have an understanding of working with those with a learning difficulty.
•    Patient and kind.
•    Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
•    Honest and trustworthy.
•    Reliable and punctual.
•    Reasonable IT skills.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
