ESSENTIAL
Education and Training
Qualified to NVQ 3 level/equivalent or above
Evidence of professional development and/or relevant professional
qualification e.g. mental health, childcare, health, education, social care and/or related training
Experience
Experience of working with or supporting families with a child under 2 and/or those expecting a
baby and making a positive impact
Has been a parent or had extended experience of 24-hour childcare responsibility
Understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by men when they become parents
Has applied equal opportunities and anti-discrimination practice in work or volunteering
Has experience of delivering group work in a support setting
Knowledge and understanding
Understands how to work safely with families and has awareness of relevant legislation i.e.
‘Working together to safeguard children’
Understanding of perinatal mental health and of the importance of the first 1000 days
Skills and abilities
Able to develop supportive relationships and communicate effectively
Able to recruit, train and retain volunteers
Able to develop partnership working with relevant agencies
Able to make effective use of supervision reflecting on own practice
Able to engage with fathers from a range of backgrounds
Able to record and communicate information using a range of digital applications
Special requirements
Able to work flexibly, some evening or week-end work and occasional residential training
Car driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes
Eligible to work in the UK

DESIRABLE
Experience of work in the voluntary sector or as a volunteer
Teaching or training qualification (or experience or working towards this)
Relevant professional training, for example, Health Visitor, Teacher, Social worker, Child carer
