The National Science and Media Museum is seeking a Film Archive Projectionist to research films in their collections, test prints, and help develop a new cataloguing system, working in partnership with The Projected Picture Trust in Halifax.

The overall goal of this role is to curate our film collection into a meaningful offer for audiences.

Role details
  • Part-time role (20 hours per week)

Role responsibilities

As Film Archive Projectionist, your contributions will be vital to the project’s accomplishments. You will research films in the collection, evaluating their condition, and making sure that essential details are accurately recorded using new systems and processes.

Working closely with teams across Bradford and Halifax, you’ll document the project, share discoveries, and collaborate with the Screen team to recommend films for potential inclusion in a curated screening programme.

Person specifications

You’ll bring projection experience, whether from a cinema, archive, or other creative setting. You’ll need to be comfortable working alone in an archive setting , be able to take initiative and organize your own workload as well as work with the wider cinema teams.
