Inside Out Strategic Project Lead
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an innovative new service, Inside Out, which aims to alleviate the impact of parental imprisonment and support children and families in West Yorkshire to thrive.
As the Inside Out Strategic Lead you will lead a small team to develop and deliver the new service. The service has three key elements:
- awareness raising and capacity building with schools, early years services and Family Hubs across West Yorkshire, to increase understanding about the impact of imprisonment on children, challenge discrimination and develop community-based services that are responsive to families’ needs
- one to one and group work support for children and young people (aged 5-18 years old) who have a parent/carer/sibling in custody (delivered by Children and Family Outreach workers)
- one to one and group work support for parents/carers who have dependent children aged 0-18 years old and have a child or partner in custody (delivered by Children and Family Outreach workers).
You will play a pivotal role in raising awareness about the impact of parental imprisonment across schools, Family Hubs and family support services in West Yorkshire – building strategic partnerships, establishing referral pathways, delivering training and awareness raising sessions, and influencing policy and practice. You will be skilled in interagency working, a strong communicator, committed to a ‘Think Family’ approach and have a good knowledge of schools and/or community-based children and family services. Ideally you will have a good understanding about the impact of parental imprisonment on children and families.
The role will involve travelling across West Yorkshire for meetings and training sessions in schools, Family Hubs, early years settings and other agencies, access to a car is essential.
