London Cycling Campaign Healthy Streets Scorecard Mapping Volunteer About LCC and HSS London Cycling Campaign (LCC) is a charity with more than 20,000 supporters, of whom more than 12,000 are fully paid-up members. We speak up on behalf of everyone who cycles or wants to cycle in Greater London; and we speak up for a greener, healthier, happier and better-connected capital. The Healthy Streets Scorecard (HSS) is a coalition of transport, road safety and environment organisations that release an annual scorecard ranking London boroughs on a series of indicators related to active travel. About the Role The London Cycling Campaign is looking for a volunteer to help audit the data on our map of protected cycle tracks in London for the Healthy Streets Scorecard. London Cycling Campaign has mapped all protected cycle tracks in London. Last year a new tool was developed to analyse the length of protected cycle tracks in London, and as part of this work we checked the dataset. We identified some mistakes, inconsistencies and missing information that can be addressed to improve the quality of the mapping data. We’re looking for a volunteer to check the mapping and make corrections based on current conditions on the ground. The task will mostly be desk based, using Google Maps and other services to check if cycle tracks on our mapping meet criteria and are properly shown on the map. This may also involve checking conditions in person. You’ll ideally have the following in this role: • Familiarity with cycle infrastructure in London • Good technical literacy, including with Google Drive • Familiarity with online mappings tools such as Open Street Map and those provided by Google • Good attention to detail • The ability to travel within London by cycle and/or public transportation to occasionally confirm infrastructure on the ground (transport costs can be reimbursed when agreed with LCC ahead of time) • Sympathy with the aims of LCC and HSS However, we encourage you to apply if you don’t have all the skills above or would like to further develop them. We can offer training and support and see volunteering as an opportunity for you to learn new skills. We aim to have data checked and the map updated by late February 2026 and will be updating the map from Council submissions in March. Time commitment - approx. 3-5 hrs/week average based on guess of workflow. Though you'll have flexibility how to split this up. This is a remote role and you will be working from home. Meetings with staff will be primarily online but can also occasionally be in person. To apply Please download and complete the application form and email it to campaign@lcc.org.uk. If you have any questions about the application, please email us.
