Job Description

Job title:

Community Projects Coordinator

Job purpose:

1.  Support the development of Stockwood Community Hub’s work.
2.  Manage the Food Club and food related activities to promote healthy eating and

engagement.

3.  Oversee the recruitment, on-boarding and retention of local Hub volunteers.
4.  Support place-based work and activities of the Hub
5.  Support a strong network of local stakeholders, partners, and delivery
organisations across the statutory and voluntary sectors with a view to
improving engagement and impact.

Food club and
related activities

Community Hub
Development

•  Manage the Food Club session and delivery of food, improving delivery

and increasing food-related engagement

•  Build a cohesive and happy team of staff, volunteers and members
•  Attract members who need it most, removing barriers to access
•  Support the connectivity of Haberfield House in Stockwood with the
wider community, whether as a venue or to support residents to
access groups and activities.

•  Support older people to identify and map community skills, assets,

issues, needs, opportunities, rights, and responsibilities.

•  Actively listen and respond to residents.
•  Provide updates, reports, and newsletter stories as required.
•  Ensure any activities (on or off site) are appropriately risk assessed and

managed.

•  Establish links with local groups/projects to increase the range of

services and activities that older people in our Homes and beyond can
access.

•  Contribute to annual Stockwood a Community Hub vision and Plan that
reflects local assets, needs, and the charity’s aspirations and resources.

•  Support our Supported Housing Officer to build a menu of on-site

activities, to facilitate access to off-site activities, and to support our
residents in being actively engaged in the local community.

•  Support the upkeep of an asset map to assist in signposting and to

inform future plans.

•  Contribute towards the development of a local community plan.
•  Admin support for the Community Hub monthly meetings
•  Working with Hub Lead and Hub Communications Officer, develop and
deliver effective volunteer recruitment campaigns, activities, and
materials to ensure volunteer numbers and capabilities match the
needs of the organisation.
Lead on recruitment administration for volunteers including designing
and placing ads, processing applications, checks, and induction.
•  Organise on-boarding processes to ensure volunteers are placed,

inducted, and are established in appropriate roles.

•  Work to reduce barriers to volunteering for different people.
•  Develop new volunteer opportunities within the local Hub.
•  Support and develop established volunteers.
•  Support good practice in volunteering using Bristol Charities policies

and processes and support from the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

•  Support the retention and wellbeing of volunteers
•  Collect and report monitoring data on range of activities, numbers of
participants etc. including financial income and outgoings, also collate
voluntary data from individuals regarding wellbeing.

•  Recruit and manage volunteers to support community-based activities

in Stockwood.

•  Work with colleagues in Bristol Charities Housing Schemes and across

the Charity.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

•  Volunteer management, HR, Recruitment, or some experience of recruiting and managing

people or volunteers

•  Experience of community development work
•  An understanding of the difference food projects can make in communities
•  Good literacy and numeracy skills, IT skills including using emails, Word, Excel and Teams
•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including engaging with individuals with

complex needs and motivating and inspiring others

•  Good organisational skills and attention to detail
•  Understanding of the key issues facing areas of high deprivation
•  Understanding of Safeguarding
•  An understanding of and commitment to equity and diversity
•  Experience of setting up and managing groups, activities and projects in community

development contexts

•  Proven experience of assessing and managing risk/need
•

Interpersonal skills, including networking and negotiation and ability to build co-operative
working relationships with other organisations

•  Good Project Management skills

Desirable

•  Experience and knowledge of the Education, Care Sector and Adult Social Care
•  Knowledge of relevant laws, guidance, and best practice regarding volunteering
•  Empathy with the needs of vulnerable and/or older people
•  Use of Customer Relationship Management systems/databases
•  Experience of Asset based Community Development approaches
