About this job

Working closely with the Head of Press, you’ll help shape our media engagement, manage press activity, and ensure the union’s voice is heard clearly and effectively across national, regional, and specialist media. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role that will require flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative approach – including out-of-hours work in response to the 24/7 news cycle, as well as attendance at major national union and political events.

We’re looking for someone with:

· Solid experience across a range of media – print, broadcast, digital, national, regional, and specialist – with a strong understanding of how news is made and stories gain traction.

· Insight into the role and impact of trade unions within the wider socio-economic and political landscape.

· A proven ability to plan and deliver effective media activity and campaigns.

· Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, and a clear commitment to the values and mission of the trade union movement.
