Plymouth Leander Swimming Club in Devon, a club with a rich history of excellence and a reputation for producing national and international champions, is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Head Coach to lead our ambitious swimming programme.

As Head Coach, you will be the driving force behind the club's performance swimming pathway. You will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to our coaching team and swimmers, ensuring the delivery of a world-class training environment.

You will be responsible for the overall vision and direction of the coaching programme, from our aspiring age-group swimmers to our elite performance squads. This role is fundamental to upholding our club's legacy while innovating for future success on the national and international stage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the overall club coaching strategy and training philosophy.
  • Directly coach within our Performance Programme, creating and implementing innovative training plans to maximise athlete potential.
  • Mentor and manage the wider coaching team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee athlete development across all squads, ensuring a clear and effective pathway from grassroots to elite level.
  • Analyse performance data to inform training and competition strategies.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including Swim England, Plymouth Active, and Plymouth City Council, to enhance the programme.
  • Engage with swimmers and parents, acting as a key ambassador for the club and promoting a positive and supportive community.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an exceptional individual with a proven track record of developing elite swimmers and leading a successful performance programme.

Essential Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 3 Coaching Award (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience coaching swimmers to national and international levels of competition.
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • A deep understanding of modern coaching methodologies, sports science, and long-term athlete development.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate swimmers, coaches, and volunteers.
  • A passion for swimming and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive club culture.
  • Excellent organisational and strategic planning abilities.
