Landmarks has several satellite provisions in Rotherham, Nottingham city Centre and a “real- life” hospitality and catering facility in Rainworth, Mansfield. Job Purpose: Our Functional Skills Tutor is employed to exhibit exemplary teaching skills, have the ability to deliver a range of functional skills (mathematics, English and ICT) sessions. The right candidate must have the following: • Outstanding organisational skills; • Be a good communicator; • Be flexible and adaptable; • Creative and innovative with excellent subject knowledge; • Be capable of managing a challenging workload; • Good time management skills and an ability to deliver to deadlines. Main Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to: • Modelling outstanding teaching, learning and assessment so that learner achievement is high. • Demonstrate high quality, differentiated teaching practice so learners with complex and profound needs have opportunities to succeed and achieve. • Act as pastoral tutor for a group of learners managing all aspects of the learner experience; RARPA, accredited & non-accredited learning outcomes. • Manage the learner journey process; Initial Assessment, Induction, Baseline Assessment and summaries, set appropriate long and medium term goals, monitor progress and achievement of targets linked to goals, produce termly review of progress reports to show progression and outcomes. • Responsible for maintaining and updating personal learner files and our systems in line with record keeping expectations. Job Description - Functional Skills Tutor • Liaise with parents/carers and build effective relationships to manage and resolve learner issues and concerns. • Deliver Functional Skills (Mathematics, English and ICT) up to level 2, in a one to one and group based setting (both face to face and remote delivery). This includes being responsible for the delivery of qualifications. • Identify learner's strengths and skills gaps in mathematics, English and ICT through diagnostic assessment and support learners to develop skills accordingly. • Develop own learning materials and assessment plans for the delivery of functional skills. • Identify any barriers to learning and plan to compensate where possible. • Attend moderation meetings for functional skills and employability qualifications to ensure high standards. • Utilise to good effect the specialist support of Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy services. • Responsible for classroom management and direction of learning support staff. • Deliver personal care and support which meet or exceed learners’ requirement, promoting independence throughout. • Champion English, mathematics and ICT throughout all sessions and act as lead tutor for functional skills quality and development within the curriculum. • Undertake training as and when necessary for your job role. • Attend internal meetings, briefings and other forums as required. • To liaise effectively with colleagues to ensure consistency of approach in teaching and learning across the college. • To promote the vision, culture and ethos of the college. Job Description - Functional Skills Tutor Person Specification The selection process will involve assessments being made on the extent to which applicants meet the criteria listed in the table below: Essential Desirable Qualifications Qualified Teacher To have additional qualifications pertinent to the field of SEND A degree in an appropriate discipline/QTS/QTLS Minimum of Level 3 Maths and English or equivalent Minimum of Level 2 ICT Experience Experience as a teacher of learners with ASC’s, SLD and PMLD within a special education setting Experience of working in a college setting Understanding of City & Guilds qualification framework Significant experience delivering a functional skills curricula with a proven track record of good or better outcomes Significant experience of teaching functional skills (Pre Entry – Level 2) Delivery of functional skills qualifications.
