It willserve light, wholesome food and specialist drinks in a welcoming space for local people and families.The café is also a training ground for students from The Complete Works Alternative Provision, offering valuable hands-onexperience in hospitality, customer service, and running a business. By working alongside trained staff, students will gainpractical skills, confidence, and important life lessons that support their studies and future employment opportunities.The Café Supervisor & Training Lead will play a central role in both supporting the day-to-day running of the café and mentoringstudents. They will work closely with the Café Manager, ensuring smooth service operations, while focusing on coaching andsupporting students as they develop hospitality skills and gain qualifications.Responsibilities:Operational SupportAssist the Café Manager in daily café operations, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety, opening andclosing café responsibilities.Support with stock management, ordering, and supplier coordination.Help ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations.Step into a leadership role in the Café Manager’s absence to ensure smooth service.Student Training & MentoringSupport TCW students to learn hospitality skills, including barista work, food preparation, and customer service.Mentor students through their programmes, encouraging confidence, resilience, and teamwork.Work alongside cafe and school staff to align café training with students’ qualifications and learning goals.Provide constructive feedback and coaching in a supportive and inclusive way.Celebrate student achievements and support them with next steps into further training, apprenticeships, or employment.Customer Service & Community EngagementHelp maintain a welcoming and inclusive café atmosphere.Deliver excellent customer service and model this for students.Handle customer feedback with professionalism and positivity.Support events, workshops, and community initiatives that showcase the café as a hub of learning and connection.To support the Café Manager in overseeing café operations, while supporting student training. There will always be a discussion between all parties on whether the successfulcandidate feels they can manage these extra tasks.Extra Information:This is a salaried full time position. Leave is 20 days per annum (to be taken out of school term time) plus bank holidays. Thisrole may also be entitled to up to 5 days unpaid term-time leave per annum, to be taken in blocks of no more than 2 days atthe discretion of your line manager.The working hours are based on weekdays 08.00-16.00 with a 30-minute lunch break. You may be required to attend training sessions on Thursdays between 16:30 and 18:00, as directed by your line manager.These sessions will take place on an ad hoc basis, and payment is included within your salary. In addition, you mayoccasionally be required to support events outside of standard café hours as part of your role.This role will be directly managed by the Café Manager with performance reviews happening at least twice a year.
