Landmarks  is  an  independent  specialist  day  college  for  young  people  and  adults  with  learning
disabilities  and  difficulties.  We  provide  personalised  programmes  that  focus  on  communication,
independence, health and preparation for life and employment.

The Lifelong Learning Day Service is Landmarks’ adult day provision. It has operated since 1995 and
offers  adults  a  safe,  structured  and  enjoyable  day  built  around  their  interests,  goals  and  support
needs.  Learners  access  a  mixture  of  centre  based  and  community  based  activities  that  promote
independence,  social  interaction,  skills  maintenance  and  wellbeing.  Typical  activities  include
horticulture, animal care, arts and crafts, sport and exercise, cooking, volunteering and accessing the
community.

The Day Service operates across a small number of dedicated bases and also uses wider Landmarks
sites and local community venues. Staff may be required to travel between sites and to community
locations. There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car. Mileage and expenses
are provided for travel during the working day and any insurance implications are reimbursed.

Purpose of the role
Lead  and  develop  a  safe,  person  centred  Lifelong  Learning  Day  Service  that  delivers  excellent
experiences and measurable outcomes for adults. Hold accountability for commissioning and fees,
budget  and  resources,  rota  principles,  quality  and  inspection  readiness,  and  strategic  relationships
with families and commissioners. Set clear standards, coach the team and ensure the service is always
audit ready.
Main Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to:

Leadership and strategy

•  Own the vision and development of Day Services in line with college strategy
•  Set annual plans, KPIs and rota principles that balance quality, safety and value
•

Lead the quality cycle for Day Services and report to leadership

Commissioning, admissions and contracts

•  Oversee the full admissions pathway from enquiry to start date
•  Approve placement recommendations and fees in line with agreed packages
•  Maintain constructive relationships with local authorities, families and partners

Quality, curriculum and outcomes

•  Ensure the timetable is purposeful, accessible and promotes independence
•  Oversee assessment, planning and review. Ensure RARPA style targets and reports are timely

and meaningful

•  Keep the service inspection ready and compliant with legislation and policy

Safeguarding and welfare

•  Act as DSL for Day Services or supervise the DSL delegate
•  Ensure timely logging, case management and multi agency working
•  Monitor attendance, welfare interventions and impact

Medication safety and clinical governance

•  Hold overall accountability for safe systems of medication management across sites
•  Ensure policy, training, risk assessments and audits are in place and effective

People leadership

Lead capability and conduct processes fairly when required

•  Recruit, induct and manage staff. Set expectations, complete supervisions and appraisals

Line manage staff

Operations and estates

•  Set staffing models and deployment principles.
•  Ensure safe environments, risk assessments and emergency procedures
•  Oversee transport arrangements where applicable

Data, MIS and reporting

•  Ensure files, trackers and MIS entries are accurate and audit ready
•  Produce monthly KPI reports covering attendance, outcomes, safeguarding, staffing and

finance

Finance and resources

•  Hold the Day Service budget, approve spend within delegated limits and monitor variances
•  Ensure best value in procurement and use of college resources

External relations and reputation

•  Act as the strategic contact for commissioners and families on contractual matters
•  Promote the service through visits, events and communications

checked on the adult and child barred list.
