Job Purpose

The Business Engagement Officer (BEO) will be the main link of Community Opportunities relationships with local employers, colleges, and training providers. The role will be responsible for developing business relationships across key occupational sectors to secure job vacancies and work placements that support our commitment to ‘link local people to local jobs’.

The BEO will lead the further development our bespoke recruitment service for employers, primarily located in Sunderland but also extending to those companies working outside the City but contributing to the economy of Sunderland. Support within this service may include recruitment advice such as compiling and advertising vacancies, job and skills matching, compiling job descriptions, sifting and screening applications and assessments, providing customised training, in-work aftercare services, and information regarding government support to employers.

The successful candidate will develop networks and relationships with local delivery partners including Job Centre Plus, Sunderland City Council and its contracted services, colleges, and training providers to maximise partnership working for the benefit of local employers’ skills and recruitment needs.
