Head of Media and Campaigns FTC Teach First is a charity that believes education is the most powerful tool to help a child fulfil their potential. We find and train teachers to work in the schools that need them most, we equip school leaders with evidence-led training, we support local teacher training providers, and we plug education leaders into supportive professional networks. The role The rundown: We believe in the power of education to unlock the potential in all children - today, education isn’t fair. As Head of Media and Campaigns, you will play a key role in changing that. You will drive cam- paigns and media coverage that grow our reach and reputation with new audiences and achieve meaningful policy change. The detail: day-to-day work • Spearhead long-term, goal-driven campaigns, identifying strategies and tactics, setting clear milestones and tracking progress to deliver policy change. • Mobilise and equip our network of ambassadors, Change Makers and supporters to take meaningful action in line with the charity’s mission – strengthen- ing our community, deepening engagement. • Work with our fundraising team to drive campaigns which align us with funder interests and open up opportunities. • Lead the charity’s media function to develop media strategies that push tackling inequality in education up the news agenda, raise the profile of the charity and achieve ambitious media targets to reach and engage target audiences and influence key sector players. • Lead the media function to protect and promote our reputation, when required manage crisis communica- tions and provide expert advice and counsel to senior colleagues, including the CEO and Executive Team. • Manage the Media Officer, supporting them to run the press office and develop hard-hitting angles that get our campaigns in front of the audiences who can deliver change. You’ll take ownership for: • Leading successful cross-audience, cross-function campaigns that achieve policy change and which clarify our purpose and improve our reputation. • Mobilising and equipping our network of ambassa- dors, changemakers and supporters to take action and make progress towards achieving specified policy goals. • Generating creative ideas that push tackling educa- tional inequality up the news agenda and identifying innovative ways of getting our voice heard. • Protecting and enhancing the charity’s reputation through proactive media management and clear, confident handling of issues and crises when they arise. 1 More info on how the role fits in with the rest of the team and charity: You’ll report to: Executive Director of Audience and Ambassadors This position is a level 4 role.
