The Role in a Nutshell
We’re looking for someone to help Buglife work better. You’ll keep our governance running smoothly, make sure we’re meeting our legal obligations, and – here’s the exciting bit – lead our work on equality, equity, diversity and inclusion across the whole organisation.
This isn’t your typical compliance role. Yes, you’ll be working with trustees, maintaining statutory records, and keeping on top of health and safety and environmental reporting. But you’ll also be chairing our EEDI Working Group, bringing people together from across Buglife, and genuinely shaping how we work and who we are as an organisation.
If you’ve done compliance or governance work before and you’re interested in making organisations more inclusive and effective, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Governance & Compliance
- Keep our statutory records up to date and our Board administration running smoothly
- Support our trustees with the information and processes they need
- Monitor our health & safety compliance and coordinate our annual environmental reporting
Leading on EEDI
- Chair our EEDI Working Group and bring together colleagues from across Buglife
- Drive forward our EEDI roadmap and help departments embed inclusive practices
- Report on progress to senior leadership and trustees
- Keep staff engaged with EEDI developments
Making Things Work
- Liaise with external bodies like the Charity Commission and Companies House
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
- Spot opportunities to improve how we do things
What We’re Looking For
We know that people from underrepresented backgrounds are less likely to apply unless they meet every single criterion. Please don’t let that stop you – if this role sounds interesting and you have relevant experience, we want to hear from you.
You’ll probably have:
- Experience in compliance, governance or administration (ideally in a charity or regulated environment)
- Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail
- The ability to work with trustees or senior stakeholders
- Good facilitation skills and the ability to bring people together
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to work across teams
Experience with EEDI work, charity governance, health & safety, or environmental reporting would all be helpful, but we’re more interested in your potential and approach than ticking every box.
Why Buglife?

- Flexible remote working with travel only when needed

- The chance to genuinely shape how we work
The Mission
Buglife is the only organisation in Europe dedicated to saving all invertebrates. From bees to beetles, jellyfish to jumping spiders – we’re working to prevent extinctions and protect the small creatures that keep ecosystems functioning.
We’ve been going since 2000, we have staff across the UK, and we’re at an exciting point in our development with a new strategy to scale our impact. This role will help build the foundations for that growth whilst ensuring we’re inclusive and well-governed as we get there.
