PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role combines leading the BBC3 Catch Up presenter lineup, with producing fast-paced and dynamic output for the News Channel. It’s perfect for a multi-skilled journalist, with presenting experience, to grow their career in the heart of the BBC newsroom. As the lead Catch Up presenter, you’ll be central to delivering news and shaping the agenda for 16-24 year olds. You’ll also help the News Channel team respond to breaking news, work on flagship news programmes and produce news-making interviews.

Your work on the News Channel will also be a chance to grow experience working on output reaching over 100 million people per week. 
 
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITES AND IMPACT

•    Presenting the daily 2-4 minute Catch Up bulletin, which airs live Monday to Friday on BBC 3 and is available on demand on iPlayer. 
•    Work collaboratively with producers to create an engaging and informative daily show, aimed at 16-24 year olds. 
•    Pitching stories and ideas for the Catch Up, with the aim of featuring underrepresented news, pop-culture trends and fun viral moments. 
•    Producing high-quality live news output for the BBC News Channel, including script writing, guest booking and reacting with accuracy to breaking news.
 
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE – KEY CRITERIA

Essential Criteria

•    Experience working in a newsroom, producing live news output. 
•    Proven experience writing scripts or news articles. 
•    Wide knowledge of global & domestic news events, pop-culture and societal issues.
•    Ability to present stories in creative and engaging ways, tailored for a younger audience.

Desirable Criteria

•    Experience presenting or reporting live news content. 
•    Editorial judgement and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment. 
•    Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team.
