Work with Redmaids’ High School

Our School’s mission is to be an inclusive community based on happiness, aspiration and support of others. That applies as readily to our staff body as it does to our students.

This is a kind and inclusive workplace for people of all backgrounds and walks of life including those on second careers. Our classrooms thrive on diversity of ideas and experience. It’s no different in the offices of our business support teams, in our kitchen and dining hall or across the expanse of our grounds. We welcome difference, so, we strongly encourage you to apply for our vacancies if you are from a marginalized or underrepresented group.

We are proud of our dedicated and passionate team of teaching and support staff, who are committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities for our students and ensuring all areas of the school run smoothly. We are also fortunate to work in attractive, well maintained buildings looking out onto beautiful grounds.

”"I love working here - all my colleagues are wonderful, the environment is beautiful, and the teaching is rewarding."

Staff Survey 2023

The School is based in the leafy suburb of Westbury-on-Trym, a popular location for families. It is also just a stone’s throw from the cultural hub of Bristol city centre and close to both the M5 and M4 for easy access to the coast, London and the Midlands.

Our independent Junior School is small and self-contained with a distinct family feel whereas our Senior School has more of a campus quality, both enjoying excellent facilities.

As you would expect from an established school, we offer enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave/pay. And, many of our support jobs are part-year or term-time only, providing excellent flexibility and an opportunity to achieve a healthy work/life balance.

As part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) family of schools, Redmaids’ High staff benefit from networking opportunities, enabling staff to share best practice and develop initiatives that benefit all our schools and students. In addition to supporting the work of individual schools in supplying excellent induction and development opportunities for staff, the GDST network provides access to an extensive training programme. This includes development opportunities (including a Middle Leaders’ Development Programme and Aspiring Leaders Programme) and grants for individual courses of study.

”"It's friendly and flexible, so you can achieve a good work-life balance. It's a fabulous environment to be a part of and to be immersed in."

Staff Survey 2023

Our community includes a range of teaching, professional and manual job opportunities with roles in Finance, Compliance, Marketing, Admissions and HR to Cleaning, Caretaking and Driving.

We don’t believe in a perfect candidate, so don’t worry if you can’t tick all the boxes on the job description. We suggest you apply anyway if you see a role that you’ll be excited to work in every day, if you are motivated to do great work and if you know you can add value to our organisation with your unique talents or experience.

We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the recruitment process and you will be asked whether you require any during your application. We also offer reasonable adjustments on the job.

We hope we have gained your attention and will look at our careers opportunities a little closer!
