Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Manager to join our HR team. Reporting to the People & Engagement Director, you will deliver a hands on, strategic HR service across the organisation. You will act as a trusted advisor to leaders, lead HR operations, and support the HR team in delivering consistent, high-quality support aligned with our values and growth ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead employee relations casework (disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management), ensuring fair, timely, and legally compliant outcomes.
- Advise on employment law, HR best practices, TUPE, and policy interpretation.
- Provide operational guidance and support in TUPE and transfer processes.
- Draft, review, and maintain contracts, HR policies, and employment documentation.
- Oversee recruitment and resourcing, ensuring compliance (including safer recruitment and right-to-work).
- Support implementation and oversight of performance management frameworks.
- Mentor and develop HR team members to build capability and consistency.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and well-being across HR activities.
- Manage HR systems, data, and ensure GDPR compliance (including SARs).
- Work with L&D and leadership to prioritise learning & development needs.
- Be an active contributor to culture, engagement, and organisational change.
- Monitor emerging HR, legal, and regulatory developments to inform strategy.
Person Specification
Essential:
- CIPD Level 5 (or working towards).
- Proven HR generalist experience at manager level.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law, TUPE, and GDPR.
- Experience advising on employee relations and contractual matters.
- Ability to draft policies and employment documents.
- Capability to mentor and lead HR or people teams.
- Excellent communication, influence, and leadership skills.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and good judgment.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Desirable:
- Experience in health, social care, or not-for-profit sectors.
- Experience in organisational compliance or quality systems.
- Experience leading cross-organisational HR projects.
- Experience facilitating training or coaching sessions.
- Skills in process improvement or project management.

- What role HR should play in managing organisational growth and change.
- How HR can help preserve and strengthen organisational culture during this time.
- Practical approaches you would take to support staff, volunteers, and managers through the transition.
- Any challenges you anticipate and how you would address them.
You may use slides if you wish, but the focus will be on your ideas and approach rather than the format.
