Trinity College, founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, is one of the largest colleges in the University of Cambridge, with some 720 undergraduates, 350 graduate students, 190 Fellows and around 350 non-academic staff. The beauty and size of Trinity’s courts attract visitors from all over the world, but the College is also a thriving, modern community, which exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Administrator to join our small New College Office Team. The post holder will take the lead on all administrative functions associated with the appointment of Fellows and other Senior Members to the College, with particular responsibility for the Junior Research Fellow competition. You will provide high-level administrative support to the Secretary of the Fellowship Electors, the Vice-Master, and the Head of Academic and Educational Services, and contribute to the development of systems and internal business processes. The post holder will also support the Secretary of the Council, especially with matters relating to Junior Research Fellows. Finally, the post holder will work closely with the Council Administrator and together they will ensure the smooth operation of the New College Office and the delivery of support provision for the Fellowship.

High levels of administrative and organisational skill are required together with strong influencing skills and the initiative to help drive forward new ideas. The successful candidate will have significant administrative experience, preferably from within the higher education sector. They will have experience of managing complex recruitment competitions, database management and development and have the ability to use technology effectively and creatively to enhance office systems.

This is an exciting position for someone who has excellent communication, IT and administrative skills, and who is looking for diverse and challenging work in a college environment. The post holder will also be expected to provide personal assistance support, including diary management and committee support. They will be able to prioritise their tasks, manage varied workload and distil large and complex amounts of information into clear guidance for applicants, Fellows, staff at the College and also for external parties. The post holder will be expected to handle confidential information with sensitivity and in accordance with data protection legislation. Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is essential.

The post holder will often be the first port of call for the Fellowship, especially our Junior Research Fellows, from application to election, admission to expiry of appointment. The post holder will also provide dedicated support to the Senior Postdoctoral Researchers appointed by the College, as well as Trinity’s Postdoctoral Society.

The Vice-Master is the College Officer responsible for the New College Office. The post holder will report to the Head of Academic and Educational Services.

This is a part-time post (0.8FTE) with an expectation of 29 hours per week; specific hours of work to be negotiated with the successful candidate. There may also by occasional weekend and evening work required, to support College-wide events; such work is agreed in advance and shared amongst the team.

The salary is £30,440.80 for 0.8 FTE  (£38,051 per annum, pro rata).
