We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Officer to play a vital role in providing support for our Housing Services team.
Position: Senior Housing Officer
Location: Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton – Flexible/ hybrid working
Salary: £33,889 annual salary plus £1218 annual car allowance
Hours: Full time 37 hours. Monday - Friday
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
Our Senior Housing Officer will play an exciting role in helping deliver an excellent personal service to our tenants. The Senior Housing Officer role is varied and challenging which involves line management of the Housing Officer and Tenancy Sustainment Officer and being responsibility for the Housing Services team when the Head of Housing is absent. It was also involve regularly visiting a reduced caseload tenants in their homes and having overall responsibility for ensuring that any issues are raised and resolved effectively. The role is vital in assisting BHT Sussex in delivering its Housing Management function. It has responsibility for a number of key areas including the voids and lettings process, providing day to day tenancy management, Anti Social Behaviour case management and working with the Income Recovery Officers to ensure rent arrears targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Line management of Housing Officer and Tenancy Sustainment Officer.
- Be responsible for Housing Services team during periods of absence for the Head of Housing
- Be responsible for the accurate compliance by the Housing Services team with all operational Policy & Procedures
- Investigate complaints involving Housing Services and provide stage 1 responses.
- Ensure tenants understand and comply with the terms of their tenancy agreement, so they can sustain a successful tenancy for themselves and BHT Sussex.
- Proactively manage a reduced Housing Officer caseload to support the effective delivery of the Housing management function of BHT Sussex
- Provide coaching and support to Housing Officer and Tenancy Sustainment Officer.
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Housing Officer you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- At least two years’ experience of Housing and Tenancy Management and providing an excellent personal service to tenants.
- Experience of managing people within a Housing setting.
- Up to date knowledge of housing law, tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities and legal requirements relating to management of tenancies
- Demonstrable knowledge of Housing Association responsibilities when dealing with anti-social behaviour.
