Evening Supervisor

The Facilities team at IDS brings together a range of disciplines and specialist trades, providing 24/7 support to IDS building users; staff, students, visitors, hospitality and accommodation guests. The team operates with a high degree of flexibility and supports a busy annual schedule of teaching, seminars and events. Combining service delivery excellence, hospitality services and the modernisation of our environment, the Facilities team aims to make the experience of visiting IDS uphold our international reputation as a world leading research and learning institute.
IDS is seeking to recruit for a part time, job share Evening Supervisor to join the Facilities team at its premises on the Sussex University campus. This important role provides weekday evening building support between the hours of 16:45 and 21:00, providing assistance to building users, plus setting up teaching rooms, checking the building is secure and fulfilling other tasks as required.
The hours for this job share would be for an average of 10.6 hours per week, working the following days on alternate weeks:
Week 1 – Monday and Tuesday
Week 2 – Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
To ensure there is continuous cover for this role, we are looking for a candidate who is flexible and able to work additional shifts (weekday evenings, paid as overtime) as and when required.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong customer care focus, be highly responsive and capable of undertaking physical tasks such as moving meeting room furniture. They will also have good judgement in the event of an unexpected event or emergency and work flexibly as part of the wider Facilities team.
Note: annual leave must be taken in academic holidays to coordinate leave with quieter periods in the Institute, and in coordination with job share.
