Visiting Teacher of Speech and Drama
St Edward’s is seeking an experienced Speech and Drama teacher to play a key role teaching Speech and Drama lessons to pupils outside of the academic timetable.
You will be contracted to teach on 1 evening per week, working between 4.30pm until 9pm. Specific hours are to be agreed with the role holder at the beginning of each term.
You will be expected to plan your own weekly timetables, taking into account the availability of pupils.
Lessons will consist of vocal and physical warm-ups, working on text, improvisation and technique and you will encourage every student to find a path where they can develop their confidence to act, perform and refine their theatricality on stage. Students are set individual ambitious targets and challenges to find their own path. For many, that might mean getting them prepared for regular exams from LAMDA. For specific individuals higher up the school, that may mean seeing progress in grade 8 or diploma qualifications, or gaining a first grade in Acting, Public Speaking or Devising.
If you have an understanding of LAMDA syllabuses and are able to enthuse pupils from a variety of different backgrounds about speech and drama we would be delighted to hear from you.
