Barnardo's Works ETS North East is an employability service working in partnership with associated employers to provide young people aged 15-29 with a unique blend of personal support and accredited training, matched with quality work experience and the opportunity for sustainable employment.  Barnardo's Works effectively addresses issues and assists young people to overcome barriers to move along the employabiity pipeline.

For over 12 years, our service has delivered employability programmes across both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. We are funded by a range of funding streams including from local authorities, Scottish Government etc. This vacancy is a result of our former Admin & Finance Officer leaving us to move abroad and the role is integral to our team. This role may be also responsible for management of other admin personnel, in addition to their own finance and administration duties.

The Service has gone through a significant period of change due to the introduction of phase 2 of the Scottish Government's No One Left Behind programme of funding and the Young Person's Guarantee; so this now requires the collation and submission of multiple financial claims in each local authority area for different funders/stakeholders. It is therefore imperative that this team member has experience in producing claims for funding streams, previous exoerience related to employabillity funding would be preferred.

Other essential criteria is as follows:

Preferred:

  • Experience of working within an administration and finance role within an employability sector
  • Experience of administering records on SQA system
  • Experience of using Barnardo's recording systems whilst paying close attention to record retention and GDPR requirements
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring a team member

Please note the vacancy is advertised for full-time hours but we may agree part-time hours (minimum of 25 hours) for the right candidate

Location: 19/20 Carden Place, Aberdeen

For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.  More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
