JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Pay Grade: Contract/Hours of work: Responsible to: Relief (Bank) Minibus Driver (Term Time Only) Prevailing Living Wage HOURS: As and when required Transport Manager Responsible for: Pupil & staff transportation Working Relationships and Contacts: Pupils, Staff and Parents 1) Job Purpose: • Act as a school minibus driver • To drive one of the school minibuses on one of the designated routes during term time • To drive the school minibus for other activities (eg sports fixtures) if required • To keep the minibus clean and tidy. Key Purpose of the Role To work as part of the Estates team and to be a Relief (Bank) minibus driver as part of the school’s transport provision; including routine safety checks on the vehicle. Under the direction of the Transport Manager, the Relief (Bank) Minibus Driver’s principal duties include: Operating one of the school’s bus routes, collecting children from given pick-up points along the route and delivering them to school (mornings); collecting them from school and dropping them back at the given points (afternoons) Ensuring that the minibus is kept clean and in good condition, including, but not restricted to: a) Weekly cleaning of the bus, both inside and out b) Ensuring signs inside the bus are properly attached and in good condition c) Regular visual inspection/checking of tyres, lights, oil, water, fuel d) Ensuring that any additional work required is communicated immediately to the Transport Manager e) Adhere to all school policies including Health and Safety guidelines for minibus drivers f) Adhere to all guidelines and rules relating to the ‘on board’ systems including the CCTV and tachograph (if fitted) g) To liaise directly with parents and staff when necessary. The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the Job holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Person (Deputy Head Pastoral) or to the Head. 3) General Duties: a) To participate in the School’s staff appraisal system as appropriate b) To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people c) To present the best possible image of the School in general, and, in particular, in all contact and communications with the general public, visitors, parents, students, customers, suppliers and all other external organisations. d) To undertake training and staff development as needed and as determined by the School management. e) To undertake such other duties, commensurate with the post, which your managers, or other members of the Senior Management Team may reasonably and occasionally require, including working evenings and covering for absent colleagues. 4) School Policies and Procedures: To adhere to all School policies and procedures, especially those relating to Students, Health and Safety, Equality of Opportunity and Human Resources, and the Financial Regulations and Procedures.
