The Leisure Team Member is responsible for a range of operational duties such as assisting
with the opening and closing of the facility, undertaking routine maintenance of equipment and
maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the leisure environment.
On completion of this standard apprentices will be competent in five key areas including; leisure
and fitness operations, lifeguard duties, swimming teaching duties, gym instruction and leading
group activities.

Alongside their operational duties there are five key areas
of work all leisure team members will cover; leisure and
fitness operations, lifeguard duties, swimming teaching
duties, gym instruction and leading group activities.
They act as a Lifeguard, Swimming Teacher, Gym Instructor
and Group Activity Leads
.Job roles: Recreation Assistant, Recreation Supervisor,
Leisure Attendant, Leisure Assistant, Leisure Professional,
Fitness Instructor.

LEARNING OVERVIEW
The Community Activator Coach Level 2 develop the confidence and knowledge to
deliver physical activity coaching within a range of communities. The programme will
help the learner become a positive role model to promote change through healthy
living and physical activities.
Alongside planning and delivering coaching sessions, the learner will understand the
needs of the community and how to engage with inactive groups.

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?
After completing the training programme, learners will be assessed by an independent
assessor to gain their accredited standard. Learners will need to have achieved level 1
English and maths Functional Skills and be working towards level 2 before beginning
End-point Assessment.
In addition they must have also achieved:
IQL Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness or Gym Instruction
Level 3 certificate in First Aid
Swim England Level 2 in Teaching Swimming
The End-point Assessment period will take up to three months and includes:
Planning Meeting: Meeting between employer, training provider, apprentice and

Professional Discussion
Observation performing in all operational areas (Lifeguard, Fitness Instruction and
swim teaching) and Q&A
The grades are Distinction, Pass or Fail. Apprentices will achieve CIMSPA
(Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) at Associate
Membership level.
