Trinity College Cambridge is seeking an Investment Manager to support the Senior Bursar in the management of its £2.5 billion Endowment during the maternity leave of the current role holder. This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of one of Europe’s most prestigious higher education endowments, helping shape its investment approach and operational delivery across public and private markets, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

Founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, Trinity College is home to a vibrant academic community of c. 190 Fellows and c. 1,000 students, with a legacy of Nobel laureates and global impact. The Endowment is the financial engine powering the College’s mission, invested across property, public equities, and venture capital. It is managed by a small, agile in-house team led by the Senior Bursar, alongside two investment professionals.

The Investment Manager will act as a thought partner and operational lead across the Endowment’s activities, ensuring smooth coordination of internal processes, external relationships, and key initiatives. This is a maternity cover (fixed term), full time role, on a c. one-year contract that would commence in December 2025.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Oversee the venture capital and private equity programmes: Coordinate Trinity’s VC and PE activity, ensuring strong governance, advisor engagement, and delivery on objectives, including the recommendations that have come out of a recent review of Trinity’s Private Equity approach.
  • Drive the execution of sustainability objectives: Champion the endowment’s sustainability agenda, managing internal execution and external partnerships.
  • Manage external advisors and consultants: Oversee relationships with key partners across communications, reporting, and investment operations.
  • Ensure operational excellence: Support seamless execution across the Endowment, including cash flow, capital movements, and reporting. Maintain oversight of the public equities’ portfolio, ensuring continuity in reporting and monitoring.
  • Coordinate investment reporting: Support and lead preparation for key internal meetings, including the Investment Committee and Council, ensuring high-quality reporting.
  • Provide executive support and thought partnership: Work closely with the investment team to drive momentum on initiatives, including the Trinity Entrepreneurship Programme.

This role suits a self-motivated, highly organised, analytical individual with excellent communication skills who has a keen interest in finance and investments. You will have a demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate diverse stakeholders in complex organisations.
