To work as part of the clinical team carrying out assessments on referred clients and delivering therapy to complex clients. Providing general and risk management support to the wider clinical team. To respond to complex, high need callers to Sheffield Mind. To support the development of Sheffield Mind’s Counselling and Therapy services as required.
Working hours:
22.2 hours per week (3 days)
Contract end date: 31/03/2027 (subject to funding)
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess referrals to the counselling service including undertaking a written risk assessment.
- Undertake triage with initial referrals to manage risk situations.
- Work evenings and weekends – according to client availability for assessment – under the direction of the Services Manager.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with Sheffield Mind's policy.
- Provide telephone support to people ringing Sheffield Mind in distress or crisis and manage risk phone calls.
- Work within the clinical governance framework of Sheffield Mind.
- Monitor and respond to Therapy inbox as required
- Meet with the clinical lead on a regular basis to monitor risk and safeguarding.
- Be involved in the recruitment and induction of new clinical staff and oversee student counsellors on the placement.
- Oversee assessments, risk assessments, the allocation of new clients and waiting lists.
- Carry a caseload of complex clients, face-to-face or by phone / online.
- Deliver occasional mental health and wellbeing training to external organisations.
- Maintain records, monitoring and evaluation systems as required, in keeping with Sheffield Mind policies and procedures.
- Work with the Services Manager to report activity and outcomes to commissioners and funders.
- Liaise on behalf of and represent Sheffield Mind as appropriate.
- Actively promote and ensure good equal opportunities practice and work in an anti-oppressive manner.
- Any other tasks that can be reasonable expected that are within the scope and spirit of the job.
- Support and contribute to the charitable and fundraising work of Sheffield Mind as appropriate.
- Actively participate in supervision with the Services Manager & Clinical Lead
