About the Role
Bangkok Patana is thrilled to commence the search for our next Primary Vice Principal Pastoral, following the upcoming retirement of the current postholder after decades of dedicated service to the school community.
This pivotal leadership role demands the ability to balance a whole-school view of student well-being with close attention to policy and daily practice. It requires proven experience of leading large teams, setting clear and practical priorities, monitoring provision with care and focus, and communicating with clarity, empathy, and resilience.
This position is part of the Primary Leadership Team (PLT) and Academic Leadership Team (ALT). It includes the line management of: FS to KS2 Year Group Leaders (Pastoral); A post Lead PSHE and the Primary Secretary.
This role represents a significant opportunity for an experienced leader and Primary educator to shape the culture of care, safeguarding, and well-being in one of the world’s leading international schools.

Students, staff and parents consistently report feeling safe, valued and included. Equity, diversity and inclusion are embedded and high standards of student conduct are evident across the school
• Safeguarding and Child Protection
All statutory and regulatory requirements and standards of international best practice are met. Safeguarding concerns are recorded and acted upon promptly with secure CPOMS records, PDPA-compliant data management, and regular staff training
• Curriculum and Transitions
A coherent, evaluated PSHE and RSE programme—and wider enrichment such as residential experiences—promotes global citizenship and personal development. PASS and other wellbeing metrics work alongside academic data to inform provision. Students are well prepared for moves between year groups and for transition to Secondary
• Leadership and Capacity Building
Middle leaders demonstrate capability and confidence in safeguarding and pastoral roles, supported by clear guidance documents, effective professional development, and strong community partnerships
• Resources and Risk Management
Budgets, facilities and duty systems are managed effectively to ensure a safe, well-supervised environment and to mitigate risks across all areas of school life
Your Profile
You will bring the following essential qualifications and experience:
• A recognised teaching qualification with QTS (eg PGCE, BEd or equivalent)
• Additional qualification in leadership (eg. ILM, NPQSL/NPQH or equivalent).
• Additional training or qualifications in Safeguarding – Child Protection or Pastoral work (eg: DSL training, Advanced Child Protection training, Safer Recruitment in Education, NA-SENCO, NPQ-LIE, NPQ-LBC)
• Excellent classroom practitioner with at least 8 yrs teaching experience across all key stages of Primary education
• A minimum of 3 years’ relevant leadership experience in a role that impacts a large group of stakeholders (eg Principal, Assistant Principal, Vice Principal, Designated Safeguarding Lead)
• Robust and proven experience as a designated safeguarding lead
• Securing high standards of student safeguarding and pastoral care
• Designing and implementing impactful pastoral programs across key stages
• Strong analytical skills in using data to drive improvement and student wellbeing
• Familiarity with transition practices between FS and Primary/Key Stages/Primary and Secondary
• Engaging diverse stakeholders, including leaders, parents, staff, and the wider community
• Leading and managing large teams, including mentoring and developing middle leaders
• Effective change management skills
• Interest in international education
• Expertise is using digital tools and systems for Safeguarding management
• Highly effective communicator and presenter
