Remote position for an Administrator within the Safeguarding Team - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
The St Vincent de Paul Society (England & Wales) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk. Previously, DBS checks for our staff and volunteers were obtained through the diocese. We are now introducing a new process where DBS checks will be managed directly by our safeguarding team for staff, volunteers, and members. To support this important initiative, we are seeking a
DBS Administrative Assistantto join our team.About the RoleAs a DBS Administrative Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and compliant processing of DBS applications and rechecks. Working closely with the National Safeguarding Manager, you will help maintain high standards of safeguarding across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Process new DBS applications and rechecks through our registered body.
- Verify identity documentation in line with DBS and UK Home Office guidelines.
- Liaise with local identity document verifiers and applicants to resolve queries.
- Track progress and ensure timely completion of applications.
- Maintain accurate and confidential DBS records in compliance with UK GDPR.
- Prepare reports and invoicing information for finance.
- Respond promptly to internal and external DBS-related enquiries.
- Strong administrative experience, ideally in HR, safeguarding, or compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of UK GDPR and data confidentiality.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT and communication skills.
- Experience with DBS processing and registered bodies.
- Experience in member-led organisations.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and adults at risk.
