Dear candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Fundraising and Communications at Breast Cancer UK. You won’t be surprised to read that this is an exciting time to join our charity (what charity wouldn’t say this), but it truly is a strategically critical and pivotal time for us at Breast Cancer UK. Joining us now offers a talented and driven candidate a unique opportunity to influence and help shape the direction of our cause.
We’ve come a long way in the six years since the pandemic hit, from a small charity with an annual turnover of £400K and limited proactive fundraising to a dynamic mid-sized organisation with twice the number of colleagues, a tenfold increase in our supporter base and a diverse pool of sustainable income streams driving an annual turnover of £2.1M.
Our clear strategic focus, strong financial management systems, our values-based and collaborative organisational culture, the quality of our education and supporter experiences and the growing influence of our scientific research programme have been integral to this transformation.
But we have more to do to scale our organisation to enable us to achieve our mission to tackle preventable breast cancers, empowering everyone to reduce their risk of breast cancer. We need to double our size again to build the resource capacity, influence and engagement to deliver our unique programme widely and for meaningful impact to happen. This role is critical in helping us achieve this.
Our new Director of Fundraising and Communications will join a passionate team of talented and committed colleagues actively working to deliver our plans and eager to welcome a visionary leader with a strong belief in our mission, whose people management skills, creativity and highly tactical approach will inspire and enable excellence and results.
If you are looking for a creative challenge and opportunity to advance your career as a strategic leader in a vibrant and truly unique organisation working towards achieving change that will transform lives, we hope you will consider applying.
