    Kitchen Assistant – Community Café (St Vincent de Paul Society, Leeds)

    Are you passionate about food and community? Do you have experience working in a kitchen and a strong understanding of food hygiene procedures? We want to hear from you!

    About the Role:We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at the St Vincent’s Community Café in Leeds. You’ll play a key role in preparing and serving a range of simple hot and cold meals, drinks, sandwiches, and snacks, ensuring excellent customer service for all café users.Key Responsibilities:
    • Prepare and cook meals (breakfasts, jacket potatoes, salads, daily specials, soups, desserts, etc.)
    • Make and serve hot and cold drinks
    • Take orders, use the cash register, and serve food
    • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety at all times
    • Support the Café Manager and volunteers with daily operations, stock control, and ordering
    • Assist with buffets, catering, and events
    • Keep the café clean and welcoming for all
    What We’re Looking For:
    • Prior experience working in a kitchen environment
    • Excellent understanding of food hygiene procedures and allergen awareness
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to stay calm and organised in a busy environment
    • A positive, community-focused attitude
    Desirable:
    • Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certifcate (Level 2)
    • Experience in the voluntary sector
