Job Title: Marketing and Communications Officer
Location: Office-based in Salisbury
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary starting from: £26k-£28k annum, depending on experience
Reporting to: Marketing Manager

Job Purpose

The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a key role in creating and delivering engaging content across Salisbury Hospice Charity’s communication channels. You will manage our social media platforms, support fundraising initiatives through impactful campaigns, and showcase the difference our hospice makes through compelling storytelling and case studies.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

  • Assist with generating high-quality, engaging content for all marketing channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, and paid digital campaigns.
  • Write and edit compelling copy that reflects the charity’s brand
  • Create and edit multimedia content; including photos, graphics, and short videos, using editing software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Work with clinical staff and volunteers and to obtain case studies to share with our supporters.

  Social Media & Community Engagement

  • Manage and schedule posts across Salisbury Hospice Charity’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube)
  • Monitor and respond to social media comments, messages, and enquiries, ensuring timely and compassionate communication.
  • Support the development of social media campaigns to promote fundraising events, charity shops, and awareness days.

   Fundraising & Campaign Support

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of fundraising campaigns, ensuring they align with wider marketing and income generation strategies.
  • Assist the fundraising team with the creation of digital assets.
  • Support email marketing activity to engage and steward donors and supporters.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Team to maximise digital opportunities for supporter engagement and online giving.

  Data, Analytics & Reporting

  • Use analytics tools (such as Meta Insights, Google Analytics, and Mailchimp reports) to monitor campaign performance and engagement.
  • Prepare regular reports on key metrics to inform future activity and demonstrate impact.

  Innovation & Development

  • Research and recommend emerging digital trends, tools, and techniques to enhance the charity’s digital reach.
  • Contribute ideas to improve the charity’s online storytelling, engagement, and supporter journey.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing social media and digital content, ideally in a charity or community setting
  • Photography and/or videography experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Proficiency with digital content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or similar)
  • Understanding of digital analytics and insights
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple projects
  • Passionate about the work of Salisbury Hospice
  • Design skills

  Desirable:

  • Experience with paid social or Google Ads campaigns
  • Familiarity with email marketing and CRM systems
  • Familiarity with Word Press sites
  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection in marketing contexts
