Freud Museum London
Full-time
30th November 2025

The Freud Museum London (FML) celebrates the life and work of Sigmund Freud and his daughter Anna Freud and explores their continuing relevance to contemporary life. Housed in Freud’s final home, the Museum attracts local, national and international audiences through its research initiatives, exhibitions, public programmes and digital content.

Freud Museum London turns 40 in 2026. We are recruiting for a Marketing, Communications and Digital Lead who can take responsibility for making the most of this opportunity to raise the profile of the museum while also driving audiences and income. The role would suit a strategic thinker and doer, who has the enthusiasm to make a real difference to a small organisation, shaping and delivering strategy across audience development, brand and digital as the Museum celebrates a significant milestone while also embarking on a programme of long-term change.

At a time of fragmentation, identity crises and mass anxiety, we believe that psychoanalysis – which offers a space to explore ambiguity, contradiction and internal conflict – has never been more important. By the time of our 50th birthday, we want to be well known as a place that brings psychoanalysis to life as a vital, living discipline, offering insight into contemporary art, culture, politics and society. Building on the legacy of Sigmund and Anna Freud, we want to open up psychoanalysis and make its ideas accessible and resonant for all.

Job purpose

The Marketing, Communications and Digital Lead will lead on developing and delivering the Museum’s marketing, communications and digital strategies to increase profile, engagement, and income. This is a thinking and doing role which will combine strategy development with hands-on delivery. The postholder will lead on the development and expression of the FML brand across all platforms, ensuring that the Museum’s distinctive purpose, values and goals are communicated effectively to diverse audiences locally, nationally and internationally.
