The Vacancy
The Insight Manager will act as the organisation’s central hub for supporter understanding. This role partners with teams across the organisation to ensure all activity is grounded in robust insight — from customer research and analytics to market intelligence. The postholder will lead the creation and delivery of a central insight plan, ensuring insights are synthesised into actionable truths that inform strategic decision-making, improve supporter journeys, and strengthen the organisation’s connection with its audiences.
This position will focus on guiding and supporting research efforts and managing insight processes, rather than conducting primary research. The role will provide advice and support for teams engaging external research agencies and consult with the Insight Officer, who delivers internal research projects and the annual supporter survey.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Insight Management
- Partner with teams across the organisation to identify and prioritise customer research and analytical needs.
- Develop, own, and manage a central insight plan, aligning research activity with organisational priorities.
- Review and sign off all insight briefs to ensure consistency, quality, and relevance to strategic goals.
- Provide guidance and oversight to teams in the evaluation and selection of external research partners.
Synthesis & Insight Development
- Collate and synthesise insight debriefs and research outputs into clear, actionable organisational “insight truths”.
- Maintain a living repository of insights that can be easily accessed and applied across teams.
- Ensure insights are embedded into strategy, product development, communications, and supporter experience initiatives.
Customer Research Ownership
- Own and maintain the supporter journey for customer research, ensuring it is consistently applied across all projects.
- Develop processes to ensure consistency and quality of all customer research undertaken across the organisation.
Market & Competitor Intelligence
- Track and report on sector campaigns and activity, messaging, and positioning, sharing learnings and implications for the organisation.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities in the external environment that may influence strategy or engagement.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Proven experience in customer or market research, insight management, or strategy development.
- Strong analytical, interpretive, and synthesis skills — able to turn data into clear narratives and actionable insights.
- Experience commissioning, managing, and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative research.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across teams.
- Experience managing multiple insight projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative and proactive business partner.
- Curious and passionate about understanding people and behaviours.
- Confident synthesiser — able to make sense of complex data and tell compelling stories.

The Charity
Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity. Our mission is to accelerate progress towards a cure. Today 1 in 2 people will be impacted by dementia, either through caring for a loved one, developing it themselves or tragically both. But there is hope.
There has never been a more important and exciting time in dementia research. With promising new drugs in clinical trials that slow the progression of the diseases that cause it, and revolutionary new ways to diagnose them on the horizon, we are now at a tipping point. Working with the smartest minds globally and across the UK, with industry and academia, Alzheimer’s Research UK is uniquely placed to invest in the very best research identifying barriers to a cure and knocking them down so that there are more and better treatments for everyone with dementia. For the first time in history, we can see a future where people with dementia can get a swift and accurate diagnosis, and effective treatments that could slow or even stop their disease. We stand for everyone affected by dementia. We stand for a cure.
We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures, in particular those from ethnic minority backgrounds who are currently under-represented. Any offer of employment is however subject to you having the right to work in the UK.
The Benefits
It is important to offer a range of benefits which are designed to meet both the organisational and individual needs, are market competitive and designed to attract and retain employees.
